Elizabeth Blaylock

Leadership Advisor

I have always been curious about the ways people organize themselves to make things happen. I came to consulting, and later coaching, as a way to apply the insights and concepts I developed over time to help organizations and leaders accomplish their goals.

A few years into my consulting career I was asked to shadow several healthcare professionals to find out how they used their time. I was deeply moved by the dedication, expertise and commitment of those individuals to their work. I was also fascinated by the complexities of professional and leadership work in organizational environments with multiple, overlapping hierarchies, and competing objectives.

That experience and others that followed sparked a lifelong commitment to helping complex, mission-driven organizations and their leaders become more effective.

Over the last 30 years, I have worked with leading organizations in healthcare, education and the nonprofit sector as a management consultant and executive coach. I have extensive experience with the challenges of leading and managing experts and professionals, working with boards, developing and executing strategy, and driving organizational change.

I began my consulting career with McKinsey & Company before leading the academic medicine and strategy practices at CFAR. In 2015, I began practicing independently. In 2024, in recognition of my commitment to serve passionate, mission-driven leaders through direct, personal partnerships, I renamed my business Blaylock Leadership Advising.

"It is so enjoyable to work with Elizabeth: exchanging ideas, debating the merits of approaches, and designing efficient interventions with measurable outcomes to great client satisfaction, all with great humility and mutual respect."
